Betty Merle (Vaughn) Dominick

Betty Vaughn Dominick, 92, passed away Saturday evening, April 22, 2017 at Beacon Place, Greensboro, NC.

Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Morehead United Methodist Church, 3214 Horse Pen Creek Road with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born May 12, 1924 in Greenville, SC, she spent her youth in Charleston, SC where she met and married the late Earle Sloan Dominick.

Betty was much loved by her family, coworkers, and all who knew her. She worked for many years with Central Floral Gardens and enjoyed being surrounded by flowers. She was a member and active participant at Morehead United Methodist Church. Special thanks go to her very good friends, Viola Smith, Mary Sue Hawkins, Shirley Sharpe and Mary Munzner, who made her life joyful and made sure she never missed fun activities such as church meetings, lunches and mystery trips.

She was preceded in death by parents Thomas William Vaughn and Sallie Brickle Vaughn; her sister, Nannie Vaughn Ferguson; and her nephew, Cortez Wright Ferguson, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Nancy Anne Dominick; son, Richard Sloan Dominick (Frances Mills) both of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Dominick Wall (Dwight) of Greensboro; granddaughters, Kimberly Dominick Bryant (James) of Greensboro and Shannon Fields Robinson (Patrick) of Marietta, GA; two great grandchildren, Blake Bryant and Seth Bryant; and her nephew, George W. Ferguson (Becky Featherstone).

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Wednesday in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers Betty requested that memorials be made to Morehead United Methodist Church Bus Fund, 3214 Horse Pen Creek Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 or to The SPCA of the Triad, 3163 Hines Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
