Bobbie Gene McCallie was born in Hanna, OK on October 3rd, 1934 to Lindsey and Livia McCallie. Raised in Port Authur, TX along with his younger brother Jerry, he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1953.

After a stint in the U.S. Army, he attended Lamar State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1958. He then attended Texas A&M where he achieved a Master's Degree with his Thesis "An Analysis of the Periodic Heat Flow Through the Wall of an Infinitely Long Hollow Cylinder By Electric Analogy" in 1961.

An avid pilot, he used his Mooney aircraft to commute between Huntsville, AL and Cape Canaveral, FL while working on the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Space Projects as a Propulsion Systems Engineer for Chrysler Aerospace Industries.

After retiring from Aerospace Engineering, he operated a chain of dry cleaners for a number of years before finally retiring for good.

Enjoying his retirement, Bob loved working with animals, hunting and especially bass fishing and boating.

He is survived by his wife of many years, Edna Rouse McCallie and his daughter Jennifer McCallie Bennett,  Grandchildren Tracy, Wendy and Lee,  Great grandchildren Cortney and Harper,

Great Great Grandchildren Thatcher, Dimitri, Sullivan and Emmett.
