Reverend C L Walker, 92, went Home to be with his Lord on Friday morning, June 24, 2016 at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church in Galax, VA with Pastor Sam Holder officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Rock Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Independence, VA.

Rev. Walker was a Baptist minister for nearly sixty years serving churches in Virginia and North Carolina.  He felt the call into the ministry during his time in the Navy during World War II and spent most of his life reading and studying God’s Word and sharing the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He enjoyed reading Christian publications such as “The Sword of The Lord” and many other gospel papers.  He loved to spend his time in his garden, keeping bees, and caring for his apple trees.  He had a “green thumb” and had the gift of growing beautiful flowers.  As a young man he loved hunting, fishing, and trapping and was known as a man who could fix anything he set his mind to.

Rev. Walker was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Hudson Walker; second wife, Ruby Walker; Infant daughter, Emily;  grandson, Jason Kornegay; and brothers, Geedy and Kemper Walker.

He is survived by his son, Roger Walker (Elaine) of Burlington, NC; daughter, Glenda George, of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Mary Hudgins (Tom), of Kernersville, NC; son, Richard Walker (Cheryl), of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren, Tim, Angie, Marc, Byron, Jeff, Scotty, Mike, Kevin, Rodney, Christopher, Steven, Kayla, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Paul, Mackenzie, Aubrey, Hannah Faith, Kristi, Brandon, Zachary, Emily, Maggie, Olivia, Jessica  and Hannah; great-great-grandchildren, Paul, Odin, Lennox, Azalea, and Adelynn; sisters, Irene Isom, Catherine Hash (Tuck), and Shirley Stuart (Gary); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom he loved.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Surry County, 401 Technology Lane, #200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
