Clarence Allen Parker

Mr. Clarence Allen Parker, 90, of Greensboro, NC passed away at Beacon Place on May 20, 2016.

In fulfilling Mr. Parker’s wishes there will be a memorial service at sea at a later date.

Allen was born on May 19, 1926, in Effingham, Illinois. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and retired in 1968, as Chief Boatswain’s Mate. He also retired from the Foxboro Company in Foxboro, Massachusetts as Maintenance Supervisor. He had a great love for telling Navy stories and cherishing his grandchildren. He also loved gardening, lawn work, and making nautical knot boards for friends and family.

Allen was preceded in death his parents, Joseph and Francis Parkerof Illinois.

He is survived by his long time love, Nellie Loflin; step children, Lynn Carroll (Tracy), Paul Loflin, and Alice Harvell; grandchildren, Kevin Carroll, Chad Carroll, Nick Harvell and Sharon Sullivan all of Greensboro:a very special friend, Darren Rabon of Salisbury, NC; his brother, Pat Parker and his sisters, Pauline Kaye Stearns, Agnes Caywood, and Jackie Jo Parker of Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United States Navy Memorial.
