Dorothy Marie (Garwood) Covey

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Marie Garwood Covey passed away February 5, 2016, with her family by her side.

A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday at George Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Covey was preceded in death by her husband Harley of 58 wonderful and blessed years; her parents Omer and Ernestine Garwood and her brother, Wayne Garwood.

Dorothy was a very loving and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always did special little things, like cooking your favorite dish or making your favorite cookies and was a very giving woman. She was a graduate of Pulaski High School (class of 1951).

She loved cooking and canning, having house plants and flower gardens, reading books, was a loyal NASCAR fan, playing board games, watching movies, game shows and cartoons. She was very nostalgic and was always young at heart. She loved to attend and watch her children and grandchildren fulfill their goals and accomplishments in life.

She is survived by her children, Phillip Covey, Michael Covey (Kris), and Dianne Covey; grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Justin (Lauren), Jennifer (Jonathan) and Adam; great grandchildren, Brandon, Parker and Nathaniel and her brothers, David Garwood (Glenna) and Bobby Garwood.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of her love for children and NASCAR, contributions may be made to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
