Dorothy Marie (Byrd) Locklear

Dorothy Marie Byrd Locklear, 81, of Greensboro departed for her Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2016 at George Brothers Funeral Service with burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

She began her career in 1968 with Old Master Cabinet Shop and worked there until her retirement in 2003. Being the matriarch of the family, she was spunky and witty; was a caregiver to those that needed it; and was greatly loved by her family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by husbands, Jack Bateman and Woodrow Locklear; son Eddie Foy Bateman, and a daughter Bessie Diane Lowery, along with several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue Ann Mitchell (Carl) of Greensboro, Lisa Ryan (Raymond) of Summerfield, and Jennifer Oxendine (C. B.) of Brown Summit; sisters, Gracie Stone of Reidsville and Virginia Nelson of Greensboro; brothers, Bennie Byrd of Shallotte; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the funeral home
