Eugene Washington

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”

Eugene Washington was born on January 25, 1954, to the late Charles and Maggie Washington in Maxton, NC. Eugene was the third of six boys and the seventh of twelve children. He attended R.B. Dean and Maxton High School. Upon graduating from Maxton High, he received and Associate Degree from Richmond County Tech College, then attended NC A&T University before entering into the furniture assembly business. However, he devoted the greatest portion of his professional life to community service, working the Montagnard-Dega Community. He was recently honored by the Montagnard-Dega community for processing, assisting, and placing 178 members as U.S. citizens.

Eugene transitioned to external reward on October 30, 2017. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dossa Washington, Annie Hall, and Mary Fields. He leaves several siblings behind, Martha Lee Harrington, Mattie McCallum (Paul), Charles Washington, Bobby Washington (Cleo), Juanita Washington, Odessa Washington, Alvin Washington (Cynthia), Joseph Washington (Barbara), Gregory Washington (Sandra); spiritual brothers, Y’ Jhue Mlo and Y’ Phil Mlo and spiritual son, Da Rolan. He also leaves a host of relatives, friends, and the Greensboro Community of the Montagnard-Dega Association.

The funeral service will be held 10:00a.m. Saturday at Unite Montagnard Christian Church. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
