Frances (Roberts) Thompson
January 16, 1929 ~ May 5, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years OldFrances Roberts Thompson went Home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 5, 2017 at 88 years of age.
A celebration of Mrs. Thompson’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Darrell Ost and Pastor Brett Seawell officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
She was born to Nora and Kelley Roberts in Stokesdale, NC on January 16, 1929. The last surviving of nine siblings – she was preceded in death by her soul mate and husband, Walter Lowell Thompson and son, Frank “Red” Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was a loyal and founding member of First Evangelical Methodist Church for 54 years. She currently was attending New Testament Baptist Church for eight years. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery, and her beautiful flower gardens. She was employed by Washington Mills of Mayodan and Greensboro Manufacturing until she became a fulltime wife, mother, and homemaker in 1952.
Frances is survived by her son, Jim (J.C.) Thompson, of Renton, WA; her daughters, Donna (Wayne) Southard, Kathy Dale Thompson, of Greensboro, Eileen (Eric) Gauldin, of Stokesdale, Elaine (James) Thompson McSweeney, of Oak Ridge, and Gina (Kevin) Thompson Varner, of High Point; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandkids; numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of close friends.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at George Brothers Funeral Service on Tuesday evening.
