George Cleveland Wood III passed away on July 12, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to the late George Cleveland Wood, Jr., and Lucille Neal Wood on February 12, 1942 in Stuart, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rix Wood, his son, Christopher Tyler Wood, and his wife, Mandy, and his granddaughter, Crosby Whitman Wood, as well as his stepchildren  Seth J. Tart and his wife Amy, Rebecca T Martin and her husband Joey, and stepgrandchildren, Luke and Rachel. He is also survived by his sister Clevie Wood Wiggins, her husband Walter; brother Charles Richard Wood, and his wife Linda; nieces Katherine Wiggins Fisher, husband, Mike and their children Ann Cleveland and Walter Brian; Elizabeth Wiggins Sharpe, and husband Jay and their children, Ella Wood and Lucas Daniel Sharpe; and  Summer Neal McConnell and her husband, Mark and their child, Rachel Neal McConnell; and his uncle Lawrence Wood.

George was unselfish in his service to God and administered to people who needed support.   Among his ministries was Outstanding Service as Adjunct Chaplian at Moses Cone, Stephen Ministry through Rehobeth United Methodist Church and Certified through Hospice and Palliative Care for Patient and Family Support.  His goal was to leave this world a better place than he found it.  He did just that.

George established his successful company, Pro Style Distributors, loved golfing, shag dancing and mostly meeting people and making new friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Hospice of Greensboro, Urban Ministry, Salvation Army or Make A Wish Foundation.

The family will receive friends at George Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday, July 16 from  5 pm to 7 pm.  His Celebration of Life will be at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, 4475 Rehobeth Church Road, 27406 on Sunday, July 17 at  3 pm.  Internment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will also receive friends after the service in the Family Life Center.
