Mrs. Glenda Hunter Chambers, 66, passed away Sunday morning, April 30, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brief illness.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Boonville Baptist Church in Boonville with Pastor Steve Walsh, Pastor James Gunter, and Pastor John Brown officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Elkin, NC.

Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Nell Hunter; and father and mother in law, Garvie and Kathleen Chambers.

Glenda experienced poor health after a series of health problems and automobile accidents, but she never lost her desire and love of helping others.  She helped at Boonville Community Library in the children’s reading program, and was always present and involved at JM Studios where her granddaughter clogged, and where she was affectionately known as “Mimi”.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Chambers; son, J.D. Chambers; grandchildren, Tristan and Carly Chambers; sister, Darlene Hampton (Eddie); sister, Lynn Rose (Dale); and brother, G. Brent Hunter (Leshia); along with several nieces, and nephews (who called her “Gigi”), family members and friends whom she loved.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Southside Baptist Church in Greensboro, and again from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Boonville Baptist Church in Boonville prior to the service.

The family would like to extend a very heart-felt “Thank You” to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Reynolds Tower 6th floor Intermediate Care and 4th floor ICU teams for their exceptional care given to Glenda during her sickness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Community Library P.O. Box 786 Boonville, NC 27011 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405.

George Brothers Funeral Service in Greensboro, and Gentry Funeral Home in Yadkinville are assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
