James Taylor “J.T.” Plummer, Sr., 84, of Greensboro, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Friday at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Matthew Tilley of McConnell Road Baptist Church officiating. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Plummer was born September 29, 1933, in Stokes County to the late Joyce Taylor “Doc” Plummer and Grace Williams Plummer Wall.
He retired from Alcoa Aluminum in 2003, as a maintenance technician. He was also employed with Green Ford. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid fisherman and bowler and a member of City Wide Seniors bowling league.
J.T. was a beloved family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He was very humble and mild mannered. A quote he lived by and shared is “life is too short to hold a grudge”. He was also a devoted Paw-Paw.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Lee Plummer.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Hales Plummer; sons, James “Kirby” Plummer (Beverly) and James Taylor “Jay” Plummer, Jr. (Deb); daughters, Cherry Lynn of Liberty and Ruby Gail Whitt (David) of Ramseur; sisters, Joyce Stephens and Linda Cluberson (Tony) of Liberty; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
