Margaret Mae (Shoffner) Barker

Margaret Shoffner Barker, 84, of Guilford county went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2018 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Margaret was a graduate of Elon University with a double major in English and Music. She used her gift of music for the Lord’s work as a past pianist, organist, and choir director for Mt. Hope United Church of Christ and Community Baptist Church. She also served as a 7th grade school teacher with Nathanael Greene Elementary School. And she worked side by side with her husband on their farm and at the Barker Tile Shop they owned together until 2005. She loved her Lord and lived a faithful life according to His Word that she read daily.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Milton Barker along with her parents, Glenn and Maxine Shoffner.

She is survived by her children, Jacky Barker (Michele), Sharon Welborn (David), and Karen Ingold (Randy); sister, Elizabeth Jones (Bill); grandchildren, Gray, Brittany, Brooke, Adam, Shea, and twins, Shayne and Bayne; five great grandchildren; and aunts, Ila Mae Coble and Mary Emma Coble.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Friday, March 30, 2018 at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church Choir Fund, 6103 NC 22 Hwy., Climax, NC 27233.
