Mary Barbour Pearce

Mary Barbour Pearce, 99, of Friends Homes, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Friends Homes Living Room, 925 New Garden Road. A private burial for the family was held on April 18, 2017, at Guilford Memorial Park.

She was born August 24, 1917, in Johnson County, NC, to the late, John C. Barbour and Louisa Benson Barbour. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Tommy C. Pearce, Sr.; her son, Tommy Jr. and her son Bobby G. who passed away just five day after her.

Mary loved the Lord and served him in many ways. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a member of Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of the Eastern Star chapter 421 where she was a past worthy matron. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many close and special friends.

Mary is survived by her sons, Jimmy B. Pearce (Nancy) and Charles Pearce both of Greensboro; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Pearce of Atlanta and Swata Pearce of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Thomas Pearce, Alyson Griffin, Andrew Pearce, Mary Caroline Pierce (who is a national tennis champion), David Pierce, Mitchell Fletcher, James Pearce, Mary Candace Pearce and Leigh Pearce and seven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, Pleasant Garden, NC.
