Mr. Hubert Edgar, “Mitch” Cooper, 83 passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Mr. Cooper was born May 25, 1932 in Spring Hope, North Carolina. He was the son of Earnest Edgar Cooper and Estelle Lamm Cooper. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, and his daughters Kristi and Amanda. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Cooper, sons Mark Cooper (Beverly), Danny Cooper (Linda), daughters Kim Maynard (Dennis), Rebecca Ball, and Melody Chamberlain (Bobby), fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He served in the US Army during the Korean War while stationed in Germany. Mr. Cooper attended Spring Hope High School where he was a star football player, best known for his competitive spirit and 100 yard touch downs. His talent earned him a scholarship to the former Elon College now Elon University. He was retired from Terminal Freight, (Sears) with 33 years of service. Mr. Cooper was an avid gardener and volunteer in the community. He found great pleasure in harvesting and spending meaningful time visiting others to share his crops. Over the years Mr. Cooper spent countless hours as a volunteer this included devotion at his church, Community Fellowship, Brooks Global School, and the Make a Wish Foundation. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, quiet nature, generosity and genuine concern for all mankind. He was a giver in life, a true self-less man.
