Mr. John Russell Earp

Mr. John Russell Earp, age 62, passed away Saturday September 1st, 2012 surrounded by his loving family in his home.

A Time of Remembrance will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at George Brothers Funeral Service.

Mr. Earp was a graduate of Clayton High School , Clayton, NC.  He was a Vietnam veteran while serving in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant.  He also served in the Honor Guard , and in the 24 th Combat.

John was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed cheering for his UNC Tarheels and the New York Yankees.  He loved being in the outdoors fishing, telling jokes, and had a great sense of humor.  Most of all, he loved his children, and was proud of their accomplishments.

John was preceded in death by his parents John Earp and Elizabeth Matthews, and sister Gail Kelly.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years Rhonda Gibson Earp; son Zachary Earp (Jennifer Gunn) of Gibsonville; daughter Jessica Earp of Jamestown; step-mother Suveter Earp of Clayton, NC; brother Eddie Earp of Raleigh; sister Pat Bolton of Knightdale.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
