Mr. Nelson "Corky" Eddy McCorquodale

Mr. Nelson E. (Corky) McCorquodale went home to be with the Lord while celebrating his 75th birthday on Sunday October 4, 2015 at Beacon Place. He was surrounded by his family and close friends.

A funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Thursday at South Elm Street Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

Corky was a simple man who treasured his lifelong accomplishments in the NASCAR community. In retirement, he enjoyed spending his time painting, watching the race, and doing arts and crafts with his great-grandchildren.  He was a member of South Elm Street Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Harris McCorquodale.

He is survived by his children Charles Wilson (Shelia) of Greensboro and Steven Wilson (Sheila) of Concord; sister Wanda McCorquodale of High Point; brothers Bill McCorquodale (Lou) of Greensboro and Frank McCorquodale (Kay) of Clayton.  Also surviving are his grandchildren Sarah Bullard (Jon) of Greensboro, Christopher Wilson (Danielle) of Raleigh, Jessica Wilson of Wilmington, and Lynsi Wilson of Manteo; great-grandchildren Dillon Bullard and Nevaeh Wilson; nephews Randall, Lowell, and Don McCorquodale; nieces Lou Ann McCorquodale and Heather Akins.

The family will receive friends 7:00pm-9:00pm Wednesday at George Brothers Funeral Service.
