Mrs. Elizabeth Justice Dowda
July 13, 2016 ~ August 23, 2016Mrs. Rosie “Elizabeth” Justice Dowda, age 87, passed away Tuesday August 23, 2016 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Grace Gospel Tabernacle Church. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park alongside her husband Russell Dowda.
Mrs. Dowda was born in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Alvin and Alpfair May Justice. She was a faithful member of Grace Gospel Tabernacle Church.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Russell Dowda, Jr.
She is survived by her children Evelyn Hennig, Zelda Smith, James Dowda, Mary Edwards, Nancy Renea, Stanley Dowda, Travis Dowda and Jody Dowda; sisters Verda Blair, Nellie Rutherford, Gladys Reed, and Lavern Sloan; brother Ervin Justice; grandchildren Tressa Moore, C. J. Moore, Rachel E. Purcell, Donnie L. Allred, Alvin W. Dowda, Joan L. Dowda, Chrystal N. Dowda, Brandon Dowda, Travis W. Dowda, Chasity N. Langholz, David R. Dowda, Chelsea E. Dowda, Brooke L. Dowda, Jamie L Dowda, and Cindy Blagg. Also surviving are 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00pm-8:00pm Friday at George Brothers Funeral Service.
