Mrs. Mary Ward Nixon

Mrs. Mary Ward Nixon, age 73, passed away Wednesday February 14, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 24, at George Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Nixon was born to the late Chester and Vida Gay Ward, and raised by Dena Alece Wheeler and Thomas Ernest Bateman.  She was a retired nurse with over 40 years of service, and was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Casper; brothers Terry Ward and Mitchell Ward.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Donnie William Nixon, Sr.; children Dena Byrd of Summerfield and Donnie William Nixon, Jr. of Wilmington.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Addison Vaughn and Liam Nixon.
