Pastor Dallas George

Pastor Dallas George, 70, of Greensboro died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his home.

Funeral will be 11:00 am Monday, June 22, 2015 at New Testament Baptist Church with Pastor Brett Seawell officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Pastor George answered the call to the ministry as a young teenager in his hometown, Henderson, NC. On Saturdays, he would make his way to the city jail in Henderson, NC and share the gospel with the inmates. He would also preach in evening services at Calvary Baptist Church, his home church. In 1965, Dallas united in marriage with Glenda Walker. They moved to Chase City, Virginia where he started a small mission church. They later moved to the NC coastal area where he served as minister to Farmers’ Chapel Baptist Church and French’s Creek Baptist Church. In 1970, the congregation of New Testament Baptist Church in Greensboro called him to be their pastor. He served faithfully at New Testament Baptist Church until his retirement in 2014. Dallas was kind and generous to a fault. His life touched so many souls down through the years as a pastor preaching teaching the Word of God, performing weddings, and officiating in many funerals. He was a great man of God, and we as his sons were very proud to walk in his shadow. The only thing better than having him as our father, is that our children had him as their PawPaw.

Pastor George is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall “Buck” and Dora George along with his brother, “Bo” George.

He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Glenda; sons, Jeffrey and Dona George, Scotty George, Michael and Julie George, and Kevin and Patricia George; his bonus daughter, Kimberly Hazelwood; grandchildren, Kristi, Zachary, Brandon, Emily, Olivia, and Maggie; and his great-grandson Paul Scott along with his extended family, the congregation at New Testament Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday evening at George Brothers Funeral Service.
