Paul Edward Thompson

Mr. Paul Edward Thompson, 80, of Pleasant Garden went home to be with his Lord Monday, November 30, 2015 at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Community Baptist Church with Pastor J.R. Gossett officiating. Interment will follow in Gilmore Memorial Park.

Paul was born February 27, 1935 in Lenoir County to the late Bernice and Adelle Turner Thompson. He was employed with Euliss Propane Company, was a member of Community Baptist Church, and previously attended Sheraton Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Thelma Cox Thompson and a brother, Cleveland Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Thompson of the home; children, Junior Thompson (Connie) of Greensboro, Kenneth Thompson (Cathy) of Julian, Pam Hughes (Henry) of Chesapeake, VA, Emmitt Thompson (Lesley) of Julian, Galan Thompson (Sandra) of Beaufort and Randall Smith of Greensboro; a sister, Mary Perry (Alton) of Kinston; 8 grandchildren, Jason Thompson (Jennifer), Michelle Oliver (Dale), LeeAnn Boswell (Todd), Michael Thompson (Brittny), Allison Hughes, Danielle Hughes, Shawn Hughes, and Christopher Smith; 2 great grandchildren, Kaylee Boswell and Ashley Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Community Baptist Church.
