Ruby Mae (Bennett) Champion

Mrs. Ruby Bennett Champion, 96, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Heritage Greens Assisted Living.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Larsen and Pastor Josh Eller officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Ruby was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved Tar Heel athletics and NFL football.

Mrs. Champion was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Stanley Champion; and son, Rufus Stanley Champion.

Surviving are her children, Debra Champion Pless, Sidney Champion (Cynthia), and Carl Champion (Angela), all of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday at George Brothers Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund 5585 Burlington Rd., McLeansville, NC 27301; and/or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405
