Sandy Moir Hicks, Jr.

Mr. Sandy M. Hicks, Jr. (“Pap” or “SM”), 84, went home to be with his Lord Monday, February 13, 2017 at The Shannon Gray.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p m Saturday, February 18, 2017 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastors Mike Garner and Jim Cates officiating. The burial will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens.

Sandy was born September 30, 1932 in Stokes County to the late Sandy Moir Hicks, Sr. and Annie Bullins Hicks. He served his country proudly during the Korean conflict with the Military Police in the US Army. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Goldston, a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and an avid golfer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shelby Hicks; 2 sons, Ronnie and Ricky Hicks; 9 siblings, Stacy Bullins, Ellen Carter, Thelma Kellam, Henry Hicks, Ralph Hicks, Robert Hicks, Nancy Brown, Donald Hicks, and Bessie Childers.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Betty Elkins Hicks of the home; daughter, Kimberlee Wood (Steve) of Archdale; son, Kelly Hicks of Greensboro; granddaughter, Olivia Simpson of Archdale; brother, Bailey Hicks (Betty) of Reidsville; sisters, Alice Morris (Ralph) of Greenville, SC and Faye May of Greensboro; step children, Patricia Schaer (Ralph), Shelia Bailey and George Randy Thacker (Kim); and 3 step grandchildren, Cameron Schaer, Lindsay Talton, and Justin Thacker.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6–8 pm at the funeral home and other times his residence and the residence of his daughter, Kimberlee.
