Mr. William “Bill” Stoneman, 67, of Sophia, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Trinity with Reverend Bobby and Lynn Chaney officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Bill was born in Forsyth County to the late Wesley and Tulah Stoneman, and graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1969.  Bill was employed at Link Smith Ford and Green Ford before starting his own vehicle repair business, Stoneman Truck Repair.  He was a volunteer fireman with Pinecroft Sedgefield Fire Department, member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Trinity, and was a lay servant who took great pride in sharing God’s Word.  Bill was a man dedicated to working and taking care of his family.  He loved to spend his free time hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.  You could often find him going out of his way to help others in any way he could.

Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 10 years, June Phillips Stoneman; daughter, Peggy West (Darren), of Asheboro; grandchildren, Darrick, Dillan, and Devin West; Aunt Janet and Uncle Carlos Summey, of Trinity, who were like parents to Bill; brother, Melvin Stoneman (Mary), of Asheboro; sister, Nancy Thomas (Joe), of Trinity; sister, Sarah Hunt, of High Point; brother, Clarence Stoneman (Brenda), of Archdale; sister, Lavenia Wagoner (Jeff), of Trinity; brother, Clayton Stoneman (Barbara), of Trinity; sister in laws, Elma Jane Tucker and Ella Jean Tucker; brother in law, Clyde William Tanner (Donna); and a host of family and friends whom he loved.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at George Brothers Funeral Service.
