William "Bill" Charles Woodard

Mr. William “Bill” Woodard, 72, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wrenn Miller Park in Jamestown.

Bill was born July 22, 1944 in Halifax County to the late Charlie N. and Marie Whetstone Woodard. He was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Caliente, the USS Tutuila and the USS Raleigh during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 9899 and was of the Baptist faith. Bill spent his career with Glen Raven Mills where he served in various positions and continued to work as a consultant with Unifi. After retirement, Bill enjoyed his part time work with Enterprise.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Woodard.

Survivors include his fiancée, Kay Jacks; his children, Michael Woodard (Crystal) and Cindy Woodard both of Oxford; his sisters, Rose Marshall (Bob) of Greensboro, Martha Rowland of Kittrell and Matilda Hughes of Knightdale; and 6 grandchildren, Rachel, Elizabeth, Tommy, Alex, Olivia and Aurora.
