Mr. John J. Strickland went Home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Beacon Place.

A Graveside service will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 3:00 PM in Green Hill Cemetery with Military honors performed by the Randolph County Honor Gaurd.

John was born February 20, 1926 in Guilford County to the late George Howard and Freda Mae Arnett Strickland. He was in the US Navy participating in the invasion of Normandy and Southern France, retired from Carolina Steel and was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Peacock Strickland.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Gennell Hendricks and husband Randy, Deborah Elliott and husband Tommy all of Greensboro; a brother, George Howard Strickland and wife Henrietta of Greensboro; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sherrill, Dr. Ennever, nurse Therese Bacon and the entire staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, for all of their love and support during John’s illness.
