Mr. James Dwight Farrar, age 76, passed away Sunday June 17, 2012 at Thomasville Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday June 20, at Southside Baptist Church in Greensboro. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Patrick Fuller officiating the service.
Mr. Farrar was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church. He retired from Carolina Steel Corporation after 35 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Guilford County School System as a custodian for 5 years.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Peggy Benfield Farrar.
He is survived by his children Lisa Venable and husband Gary of Thomasville, and Jamie Oliver and husband Joe of High Point; brothers Kenny Farrar and wife Evelyn of Charlotte, and Ronnie Farrar and wife Brenda of Greensboro; grandson Matthew Oliver of High Point. Also surviving are 4 nieces and nephews, and several great- nieces and great- nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Southside Baptist Church, 1001 Greenhaven Dr. Greensboro, NC 27406; or to the charity of one’s choice.
