Mr. Bruce H. Tucker, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 27, 2012.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Summerfield where he attended. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Tucker was born May 4, 1926 in Mecklenburg County to the late Murray Walter and Bertha Foster Tucker. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a recent participant in the Flight of Honor to Washington, D.C. Mr. Tucker received a Masters in English from ASU and taught and coached many years before joining GM Insurance Division, from which he retired.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Smith Tucker; sons, Tony Tucker (Karen L.) of Summerfield and Rhayce Tucker (Karen W.) of Daleville AL; daughters, Vee Bracken (Danny) of Summerfield, Myla O’Brien (Paul) of Oak Ridge, and Dona Hedgecock of Summerfield; sister, Martha Smith of Charlotte; brother Larry Tucker (Pat) of Chattanooga TN; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell Academy, 2900 Horsepen Creek Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
