Alfred Smith Obituary

Alfred “Al” G. Smith, 94, of Greensboro died Friday, December 28, 2018 at Wesley Long Community Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Glenwood Campus of Christ United Methodist Church, 1417 Glenwood Avenue in Greensboro. 

Al was an active member of the church as well as member of the Aldersgate Class. Al was retired from Southern Meter and Supply Company. Following retirement, he worked at Gillespie Golf Course in Greensboro. He was also a member of the Carolinians Square Dance Club, loved playing golf, was an avid bowler, and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan.

Al is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Emily Moore Smith; daughter, Amanda Shadrick (Danny) and son, Bryan Smith (Stephanie) all of Greensboro; brother, Hershell Smith of Dallas, GA; sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith of Dallas, GA; granddaughters, Carolyn and Kimberly Shadrick; great grandchildren, Hailey and Evan Savath; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made out to Christ United Methodist Church, 410 North Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 for Glenwood Ministries.
