Belva Setzer Obituary

Belva Winn Setzer passed away peacefully on November 29, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Her family and friends will miss her terribly but are comforted in knowing that she is in her beloved Lord’s presence.

Belva was born in Danville, VA on September 16, 1933. Her family moved to Greensboro when she was four, and she spent the rest of her life there.  She was beloved by her neighbors and community.  After working for the Guilford County Schools for many years, she had a long career at Bank of America.  She worked as a secretary at Brandt Oaks Baptist Church for many years.  Her former co-workers loved and admired her.

Belva graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1951.  She married the love of her life, Bob, on June 27, 1954.  Her two great loves were her Lord and her family. She accepted the Lord at a Billy Graham crusade in the early 1950’s. She was an example of genuine Christian faith to all who knew her.  She was a faithful member of Trinity Church for over thirty years.  She taught children’s Sunday School and led in many different roles.  She had previously been a member of Sixteenth Street Baptist Church and touched many lives there.

Belva was predeceased by her husband, Robert Brown Setzer, Sr.; father, John James Winn and her mother, Flora Griggs Winn.  She was the last surviving child of six children:  Mary Jane Winn, John Winn, Jr., Catherine Cheek, Virginia Jones, and Margaret Beck.

She is survived by her children, Susan Setzer Losey and her husband Barry, Robert Setzer, Jr. and his wife Bambi, and Linda Setzer Yellen and her husband Jeff.  She is survived by grandchildren, Joshua Bair and his wife Brittani, Whitney Owen and her husband Jay, Erin Moehlen and her husband Patrick, Hannah Jackson and her husband Matt, and Seth Losey and his wife Lindsay.  She also leaves her beloved great-grandchildren, Sam, Eli, Chloe and Hadley Jackson, James and Andrew Owen, Lukas and Lucille Moehlen, Logan Bair, and Cai Losey.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, December 2 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Church in Greensboro.  The family will receive guests after the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to Trinity Church, 5200 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro NC 27410.
