Charlie Wright Jr., son of the late Charlie Wright Sr. and Leana McQueen Wright was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on December 13, 1936. He departed this life in his home on November 22, 2017, surrounded by loved ones in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Charlie enlisted in the United States Army on September 6th, 1954 and served for 22 years achieving the rank Master Sergeant prior to being discharged with full honors  January 9th, 1975. Charlie is a Korean and Vietnam war veteran. He served proudly in the 82nd Airborne Division and 173rd Division. After leaving the military, Charlie worked for the United States Postal Service and was a proud member of the National Post Mailhandlers Union and retired after 26 years of service. 

Charlie was active in his community and his local Masonic lodge. He was a lively member of his beloved church, Wendover Avenue Church of Christ in Greensboro, NC. As a dignified member of the Greensboro Vet Center, he supported other veterans through inspirational speeches, providing benefits information and addressing general concerns affecting the veteran community.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Leana Wright, wives, Dorothy Avery Wright and Connie Bell Wright. His sons, Vincent Charles Wright, Eugene Richard Leggette; sister, Anne Wright; and his service dog, Laci.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Juanita Jackson (Thomasville, GA), Shirley Herndon (Leon); (Cary, NC). Betty Frye (Walter), (Corinthian, MS); Arletha McDougal (Lumberton, NC). Daughters, Vicki Isangedighi (Greensboro, NC); Vivian Bailey (Greensboro, NC), Valarie Craven (Andie) (Sumter, SC), Shanique Wright (Greensboro, NC). Sons; Vance Wright (Durham, NC), Dominique Wright (Scottsdale, AZ), Grandchildren, Ini Isangedighi (Charlotte, NC), Eka Isangedighi (High Point, NC); Cameron Bailey (Greensboro, NC), Cole Bailey (Greensboro, NC), Diamanté Wright (Henderson TX), Cloie, Carys, and Callahan Craven (Sumter, SC). Several treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and  Jeremiah Wells (Greensboro, NC).
