Mr. Edward Rooks of Pleasant Garden, NC died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the age of eighty-three following a struggle with a chronic illness that eventually took his life.
Memorial service will be 3:30 PM Sunday, February 17, 2019 at George Brothers Funeral Service with a private burial.
He leaves to mourn his loving and very devoted wife of fifty-four years, Lillie (Hardy) Rooks; his sons, Kenneth Rooks (Imelda) and Donovan Rooks; daughter, Kelli; grandson, Alex; granddaughters, Brittany and Mia. He also leaves to mourn a sister, JoAnne; brothers, Cary (Inga), Kenneth, and Calvin (Cynthia) as well as a host of relatives, in-laws, and friends.
He was educated in Guilford and Rockingham counties; then attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a concentration in masonry. There he met his wife, Lillie and they were married in 1964 in Enfield, NC.
Edward was a successful entrepreneur who started and operated a lucrative construction company, Rooks Masonry Company until his retirement. He was serious about his profession and took pride in his business becoming the president of The Triad Masonry Contractors Association for two years and remaining an active member for more that twenty years. He also served as Honorary Co-chairman of the Business Advisory Council, The National Republican Congressional Committee.
Edward enjoyed traveling on cruises and fishing.
