Edward "Eddy" William Merritt, Jr.

Mr. Edward “Eddy” William Merritt, 42, received his wings Thursday morning, August 24, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House. He rode to the other side to join our Heavenly Father.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 2-5 pm at George Brothers Funeral Service.

Eddy graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1992 and was a truck driver for 15 years, currently employed by Sunbelt Express. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved trucks, motorcycles and the Dukes of Hazard.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leslie and Helga Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Diane Merritt; mother, Theresa Tuttle (Phillip); dad, David Maple II; father, Ed Merritt; sister, Jamie Hensley (Shan); brother, Dallas Gibson; grandparents, David and Kathleen Maple; aunts, Fredricka Woolwine (Fred) and Lu Ann Sexton (David); cousins, Darrin Ledford (Kelly) and their son, Zachary, Mitchel Sexton and Kathleen Sexton; step grandmother, Deann Highfill; step siblings, Tabitha Maher (Doug), Renee Crews (Mike) and Eric Booth (Kristie); his family in-law, the Dunns;  as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends whom he loved.
