James Dean Jones

James “Gem” D. Jones, 61, of Greensboro died Monday, June 11, 2018 at this home.

A memorial service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, June 16, 2018 at George Brothers Funeral Service.

Mr. Jones proudly served in Vietnam with the US Air Force where he received a purple heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a long-time volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America serving with troops 444 and 369. Gem’s pride and joy was his grandchildren. They were his whole world and the love of his life.

Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Jones and a brother, Charles Thomas Jones.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Brewington (Fleming), George Jones (Nichole), and Michael Jones (Jennifer); mother, Ottilie Linck; father, Dean Jones (Ruth); sisters, Teresa Hobson and Barbara Starrett; and grandchildren, Takota, Caleb, Alexia, Zander, Bianca, Briana, and Brittany.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old North State Council, Boy Scouts of America P.O. Box 29046 Greensboro, North Carolina 27429.
