Joan Yates Obituary
On Sunday, July 15th 2018, Joan P. Yates, went home to Heaven. Joan was born in Northumberland county PA on October 23rd 1947 to the late Paul & Anna Paskevich.
After attending high school in Mount Caramel, PA, Joan graduated from The Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC as a Registered Nurse. From there she worked in various nursing positions before moving to Cone Mills as the company's Nurse Manager, and then into the insurance industry as a loss control specialist for Kemper Insurance Co. then for Cincinnati Insurance Co., where she retired from in 2015.
Joan loved her family, her church, her dog Nikki and afternoon naps.
She is survived by her beloved dog Nikki, son Patrick Yates and wife Dawn, brother Paul Paskevich and sisters, Connie Patten, Jeanie Matty, Lilly Briola, Helen Seese and Pauline Balsamo, as well as several nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her ex husband & close friend, Reginald L. Yates.
Our family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at WakeMed hospital in Raleigh, NC for the care that was given to her during her stay.
We would also like to give special thanks to all of her devoted friends, especially Sheila Ingram and David Taylor, and our lifelong friend, Todd Clark for his amazing support.
Visitation will begin at 11am on Saturday, July 21st 2018 followed immediately by her funeral service at noon.
Visitation & funeral service will be held at South Elm Street Baptist Church, 4212 South Elm Eugene St., Greensboro NC, 27406.
Interment will follow at 2pm at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery, 3600 US Highway 29 / North O’Henry Blvd., Greensboro NC 27405.
