Joseph Floyd Tucker

Joseph F. Tucker, 89, of Greensboro, died early Sunday morning, October 1, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 6: 00 PM at George Brothers Funeral Service with Dr. Lawrence Clapp officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.  A graveside service and interment will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Old Savannah Baptist Church Cemetery, 138 Sutton Branch Road in Sylva with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating.

Joseph was born in Greenbrier Co., West Virginia to the late Samuel and Carmilla Tucker. He served his country with the United States Navy. He was retired from D. H. Griffin. Mr. Tucker was a member of South Elm Street Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Tucker; children, June Marie Burss and Kenneth Joe Tucker; and two grandchildren, Melisa Gale Tucker and James Joseph “Joey” Tucker.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Rayle Tucker; his children, Lenoir Davis Tucker of Lexington and Barbara Tucker Marshall (Woody) of Macon, GA.; step children, Jimmy Rayle (Cathy) of Reidsville, Kim Taylor of Archdale, Tanya Cook of Jamestown, Gerald Rayle (Kim) of Pleasant Garden, Karen Gardner of High Point and Michelle Stone (Rodney) of Greensboro; sisters, Jacquelyn Coward of Cullowhee, Gladys Ray (Jerry) of Sylva, and Cleo Rogers of Laurens, SC.; his brother, Clyde Steele (Margaret) of Franklin; 9 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and a special fur baby, JoJo.
