Joyce Pelletier Gardner

Joyce Pelletier Gardner, 86, of Pleasant Garden, N.C. passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at her home on the morning of Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

She will be remembered best for knowing her own mind and speaking it as any good Pelletier woman would,  fiercely loving her family, N.C. State University, golf, and Carteret County.

She is survived by sons, Mitchell L. Gardner and wife, Roxie, Cape Carteret, N.C.; Mark Andrew Gardner, High Point, N.C.; Martin Scott Gardner and wife Tammy, Lansing, N.C.; sister, Marilyn Glidewell of Clermont, Florida and grandchildren, Rachel, Ben, Joshua, Jacob, Ethan and 1 great grandchild, Keira Leigh, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Oscar Lee Gardner; her parents, Ira Kilby Pelletier and Margaret Swinson Pelletier and 5 of her 6 sisters.

The family will honor the memory of our strong, independent, opinionated, much loved mother and grandmother by honoring her wishes that no public funeral, family visitation or wake be held. She will be returned to Carteret County, N.C., the home of her heart. Memorials may be given in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the mission fund of South Elm Street Baptist Church.
