Lucy Mae (Johnson) Stone

Lucy Mae Johnson Stone, age 84, went peacefully to meet her heavenly father on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. She was surrounded by love as her children and grandchildren were honored to spend those last moments with her, saying our goodbyes hand-in-hand. 

Lucy is now reunited with her husband and lifelong partner, Robert H. Stone Sr; her sons Daniel G. Stone and Raymond Stone; her lifelong friend Ella Wright; as well as several siblings. She leaves behind her children by birth: Robert H. Stone Jr. and wife Cheryl; Michael D. Stone, Roger M. Stone and wife Judy; Lucy (Jeanne) Stone, Alan Scott Stone and wife Laura; as well as those that she "chose" to be her children: Tiffany S. McLemore and husband Michael; and Michael Langley and wife Judy. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to being the Matriarch of our large family, Lucy was also known for having an open door to anyone who needed it. She considered all mankind to be her family and was happy to treat them as such. Her unwavering faith and motto of "leading by example" made quite an impact on most all of us lucky enough to cross paths with her.  Lucy was a nurturer, a friend, a confidante, a mentor, a safe-haven and most importantly, a BLESSING to us all. Our world is now a little dimmer, but we take comfort in knowing, without a doubt, that she is finally home. 

Our family will receive friends on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at George Brothers Funeral Home, 803 Greenhaven Dr., Greensboro, NC 27406. The funeral service will take place at the same location on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm, with a graveside service to follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
