Marcine Gilbert Sutphin

At her home on Thursday, August 16, 2018 Marcine Gilbert Sutphin went home to be with the Lord at the age of 75.

Marcine was a native of Guilford County and lived here most of her life.  She retired from Southern Bell/AT&T after over 40 years of service and was a member of the Pioneers.  She was a member of Lake Brandt Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and attended the Senior’s Group when she was able.  She also assisted her nieces in preparing meals for the Emmanuel Wesleyan Friends & Neighbors Seniors Group.

Marcine loved being a part of a large family.  She loved them greatly and was very supportive of each one.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and a lover of all animals especially her dogs and special companion, Marcy/Darcy the cat.  Anyone that knew Marcine, knew of her love for Elvis Presley.  She enjoyed his movies and music anytime day or night.  She now shares Elvis’ date in death.

Marcine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Sutphin, her mother, Mrs. L. M. Gilbert, 3 sisters: Kathryn Brown, Lila Campbell, Ruth Pearman, and 1 brother: Bo Gilbert.  Survivors include her son, Brad Sutphin and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Lake Brandt Baptist Church by Marcine’s pastor and nephew, Rev. Randy Pearman.
