Mark Van Hoy, 58, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
A Celebration of his life will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Light House Room at the church where Mark was so often a fixture.
Mark was an active member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church where he was known to have a love for the church youth. He worked tirelessly with the youngest to the teens in music, sound, and everything electronics. He also served with the yearly Bible school and the Awana Missions. His gift was in electronics, it was his livelihood and his passion. Mark served as the coach of “Mechanical Madness”, a team with First Tech Challenge Competitions designed to bring youth together in a mentoring program where they learn programing, designing, and building in the field of robotics engineering while also learning the benefits of hard work and teamwork. Mark’s service was not limited to electronics and engineering. He was also a member of the Julian Lions Club. And he proudly served his country with the United States Airforce.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Charles Van Hoy and a brother, Chuck.
He is survived by his wife, Sebrina; and their daughters, Haileigh (fiancé, Brian Henson), Kaitlin (Ian Hawkins), and Krista; mother, Betty Van Hoy; and sisters, Neda Van Hoy and Dottie Hair; along with a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Julian Lions Club, the American Heart Association, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
