Nicholas "Layne" Spencer Andrews

Nicholas “Layne” Spencer Andrews, 23, of Greensboro, left unexpectedly Monday May 7,  2018. Nick was born on September 25, 1994 in Guilford County to Brian and Heide Andrews.  He became a big brother to Nathan on May 21, 2002.  Nick was so excited and proud to be a big brother and loved his family very much.

A funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday at George Brothers Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Nick attended and graduated from Providence Grove High School in 2012.  From a very young age, Nick had a strong love and compassion for babies and animals.  He enjoyed bike riding, skateboarding, and playing video games with his friends.  Nick became a very dedicated member of the Boys Scouts of America and cherished spending time with his father on campouts and outings.  For many years, he played soccer with the Pleasant Garden Rec.  Nick loved soccer and became an accomplished player. He was honored to be asked and play on the challenge and indoor teams.

During his middle and high school years, he was involved in the concert and marching bands.  Nick played the trumpet, saxophone, and excelled at the flute.  These experiences started a life-long love affair with music.  With age, music became a way to express himself.  He spent countless hours playing his guitar and writing music.  He loved and supported his fellow rockers and attended many shows and concerts.

While he loved many things in his life, Nick’s shining moment was when Abbie told him he was going to be a daddy.  Zane Spencer Andrews was born October 7, 2014.  Zane was the light of his life.

Nick was a beloved son and brother, a loving father, and a true friend.  He was taken from us entirely too soon.  He will forever remain in our hearts.  Nick, we will always miss and love you up to the outside sky X infinity.

He was preceded in death by a paternal grandmother Fredda Andrews.

He is survived by his loving son Zane Spencer Andrews; parents Heide Tapper Andrews and Brian Spencer Andrews; brother Nathan Andrews; paternal grandparents Numa and Gayle Andrews; maternal grandparents Rev. Edward and Nancy Tapper; and Barney and Maria Van Der Voort; aunts and uncles Kelli and Scott Kelderhouse, Tami and Ron Sykes; Penny and Gene Garner, and Jodi and Robert Berlant.  Also surviving are several cousins.
