Phillip Edwin Martin

Mr. Phillip Edwin Martin, 89, went home to be with his Lord peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Howard McNeill officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. A Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park with military honors performed by The Randolph County Honor Guard.

Ed was born May 6, 1928 in Surry County to the late Gurney Elwood and Minnie Mae Burcham Martin. He served his country in the US Navy and was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 63 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Edwin Martin, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Betty Mitchell Martin, of the home; children, Julia Martin Teeters of Greensboro and Donald Edwin Martin and wife Ruth of Durham; grandchildren, Stephanie and Scott Turkett, Phillip Teeters, Holly and Mike Southerland and Byron Martin and a great grandson, Ryan Turkett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 1001 Greenhaven Drive, Greensboro, NC 27406 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
