Raeford Fields

Raeford Fields passed away peacefully at Cone Hospital with his family by his side on August 19, 2017.  

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Swofford and Reverend A.C. Brock officiating.

Raeford was born May 30, 1936 to Addie and Froni Fields. He joined the army in 1958 and upon his return home he became a Tile Mechanic at Fields Tile working 50 plus years. Raeford enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and working outdoors on his “work toys” (tractor / bobcat, etc…). 

Raeford is predeceased by his parents, and sister, Florence Welborn.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carol Kirkman Fields, his son, Sid (Libby), his daughter Allison Eanes (Jeff), Grandchildren: Cory Fields, Haley DeVita (Rich), Ethan Eanes (Rachel) and Wes Eanes. Brothers, Kelly Fields (Betty), Earl Fields (Faye) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Raeford was a man of his word and a faithful disciple of Christ and lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Climax.  A man of few words . . . but a saying he often quoted to his grandchildren “Life is hard yard by yard, but life’s a cinch inch by inch”.

The family will receive friends in the church following the service.
