On Friday, April 12, Virignia Ketner Petty went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was predeceased by her husband, David Herbert Petty and her son David Herbert Petty, II. She is survived by her daughters Ruth (Jim) and Karen (Mark) and grandson David Lindholtz.
Prior to her marriage, she was a research chemist for Burlington Industry. During her time there she learned to play tennis and was a 2 Time State Tennis Champion.
But, she is most known for her vast Outreach Ministries. She had ministries in the local jails, the juvenile detention homes and the Greensboro Housing Authority sites. At these numerous sites, she held Vacation Bible Schools each summer for many, many years.
She had a Student Ministry at UNC-G, called Alternative, which was a Bible study that met each Sunday in the Student Union. These students were treated monthly to a home cooked, sit down, full course meal. This was a highlight for any college student subjected to dining hall food. Additionally some of these students would bring their guitars and the group would sing praise songs.
Virignia Ketner Petty’s sole purpose in life was to win souls for Christ. Her Legacy will live forever.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday April 20, 2019 at Westover Church 505 Muir’s Chapel Rd., Greensboro.
Family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greensboro or Global Missions Fund, Westover Church.
