Todd Tolbert, 55, whose life was a testament to Christ Jesus, went to his heavenly home on March 14, 2018, at his home. Todd was a faithful father, son, brother and friend.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Concord Friends Meeting, 5000 Old Randleman Road, Greensboro, NC. Family to receive friends at 1 p.m. Pastor Greg Creed, Jim Scott and James Rountree officiating
After graduating from James B. Dudley High School, Todd joined the US Army, and during his eleven-year term served in Germany, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Benning, GA, and during Desert Storm as a heavy equipment operator. After leaving the military, he settled into the transportation industry, where he was employed by Salem Carriers for the past 13 years. Todd is remembered by so many as having a contagious laugh and a heart of gold. Many of his friends and co-workers referred to him as “The Professor,” as he was incredibly knowledgeable in historic and current events, and loved to share on these, along with just about any other topic. Todd treasured these friends and their caring spirit and support.
Todd attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensboro, where he began his walk of faith and met other believers and began attending a weekly men’s Bible study group. It was evident the impact this group played in Todd’s belief system and his journey in Christ. He spoke highly of his fellow group members regularly, and was inspired by the influence they had in his life. Sharing the gospel, and how “knowing Christ” had changed his life, was one of his biggest joys.
Todd also had an enormous amount of love and admiration for family and loved to spend Saturday evenings at Mom’s, sharing in a good meal and conversation. A strong family was one of his core fundamental beliefs and this was where he found his most enjoyment.
Todd is preceded in death by his father, Norman Tolbert, Sr. and sister, Teresa Tolbert Hull.
He will be missed by all he touched and those left to cherish the wonderful memories include; his son, Tim Tolbert (Greensboro), mother, Sylvia Tolbert (Greensboro), sisters, Annette Tolbert (Joe Sisneros) of Greensboro and Sheri Fields (Larry) of Greensboro; his nieces and nephew, Alison Toomey (New Jersey), Christina Shepherd (Pleasant Garden), Michael Hull (Texas) and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; also, his very best friend of 40 years, Bob Chambers (Greensboro) and dear friend Janet Bunch (Chocowinity).
The family wishes to thank all of his doctors, nurses and staff at Cone Cancer Center and thank you to the Hospice caregivers; especially Lindsey, his nurse.
