William Chester Alley

William Chester Alley, 82, peacefully departed to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Hospice of Greensboro’s Beacon Place.

Chester was born July 21, 1935 to the late Ernest Alley and Ruth Ella King Alley in Oak Ridge, NC. He was the youngest of five children. He was a loving and kind son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was the valedictorian graduate of Summerfield High School in 1953. He loved sports and played basketball in high school and later tennis. Chester served his country with the United States Airforce. He was also a 1964 graduate of Guilford College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to retire from UNCG. Chester was also a member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church where he was laid to rest next to his parents.

 Along with his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and Roland Alley and close friend, Gordon Lee Nelson.

Chester is survived by his sisters, Mary Lou Smith and Josephine Straughn (Bobby), and a niece-sister, Deborah Alley Reid.
