William "Bill" Wade Thomas

William “Bill” Wade Thomas, 86, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at George Brothers Funeral Service Chapel.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Bill was born June 28, 1932 in Surry County to the late Ed and Etta Lawson Thomas.  He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War, was retired from Guilford Mills, an auxillary member of the Kimesville Fire Department, and a Life Member of the VFW Post 8721.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Snoddy Thomas; and siblings, J.B. Riggs, Leo Riggs, Huck Thomas, and Hilda Morrison.

Bill is survived by his children, Jackie Alcon of Gibsonville, Lisa Thomas of Greensboro, and Joey Thomas (Maurica) of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Holt Alcon (Michelle) of Gibsonville, Christopher Thomas of Granite Falls; great-grandchildren, Skye and Porter Alcon; and sister, Gladys Thomas of Cana, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
