Obituary

Ananda "Rosie" Bennett, artist, author, beloved partner, daughter, and sister, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2026, at the age of 38. Fiercely independent and gifted with a sharp wit, Rosie had a presence that stayed with you long after she left the room. In her company, your own conscience became impossible to ignore. She naturally brought people closer to what truly mattered and reminded them of their responsibility to one another. Through her art and writing, Rosie gave expression to her own view of the world. Her boundless creativity was an essential part of her life and leaves something deeply personal for others to remember her by.

On January 7, 2000, at the age of 11, Rosie suffered a brain stem stroke that left her with quadriplegia. She lived with its profound challenges for 26 years. Throughout it all, her independence, humor, and creative voice remained central to who she was.

Her family will miss her wit, her presence, and the everyday moments of being together. She was deeply loved, and there was so much more life they wanted to share with her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jasmine Valentine Gary, and grandparents Edd Valentine, Rochelle and Jeffrey Bennett.

Rosie is survived by her partner of 20 years, Sean Jargon; her father, Joel Bennett; her mother, Caron Valentine; her grandmother, Shirley Valentine; and her siblings, Desire Valentine Gary, Asa Bennett and Jack Jacobson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at George Brothers Funeral Service (803 Greenhaven Dr, Greensboro, NC 27406) on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception at her father's house.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations:

AbleGamers- A charity that brings assistive technology to disabled gamers. https://give.ablegamers.org

Gamers Outreach- A charity that provides children the opportunity to play video games while they're in the hospital for extended periods. https://gamersoutreach.org/

Rosie, we love you. We wish we had more time.
