Obituary

Nell Annette Hunter Bush's faith was made sight on March 27, 2023. Annette, 84, of Browns Summit passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Annette was born on August 31, 1938 to Stanford and Lucille Hunter in Sanford, NC. After graduating from Sanford Central High School in 1956, she went on to study at Lees McRae College, where she would meet the love of her life, Bennie J Bush.

They were married in 1958 and their first daughter, Joan was born in 1961 and Kellie, their second daughter was born in 1964. She was a secretary/treasurer at Sumner Elementary School for 25 years.

Ben and Annette spent their lives serving together in the local church. She was a long time member at Lebanon Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher. She was active in Bible Study Fellowship for many years and served as a leader. She was an author. Taking what started as a prayer journal she turned it into a book that she would share with others, pointing them to Christ. Writing a book on prayer, though it took much effort, was simply an overflow of her intimate communion with Christ. That was the most important relationship in her life. She accomplished many great things, she served her family and church well, and was an all around wonderful person, but those characteristics were simply the fruit of Christ in her.

Because of Christ's work in her heart, and her responding in faith we rejoice in knowing this isn't goodbye, it's "we'll see you on that great day." As the Apostle Paul writes in I Thessalonians 4:13-18, " we do not grieve as those who have no hope". Therefore, we will encourage one another with these words. Dear friend, if you don't have this same hope may today be the day that you run to Christ, place your trust in His finished work, and rest in His victory.  (John 6:35-40, Ephesians 2:1-10) Death is but a shadow, because He's already won the battle.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents Stanford R. and Lucille Sauls Hunter, and siblings Grace Hunter Helton, and David Hunter (Billie).  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ben Bush, her daughters Joan (Keith) Thompson, Kellie (Harlie) Miller, and sister Peggy Hunter Ritter. She is also survived by grandchildren Brandon (Bethany) Delk, Brittney (Cole) Bowen, Brad (Jessica) Delk, Houston (Maddie) Miller, Makayla (Brad) Grizenko, and great grandchildren Corben, Collyn, Connley, Paxton, Maverick, Cambridge, Paul, Titus, and Reese.
