Mr. Charles Edward Long, age 82, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Beacon Place.

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday at George Brothers Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm -2:00pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Long was born, in Randolph County, to the late Willard and Ethel Long.  He retired from Cone Mills as a machine shop supervisor, and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of fifty-eight years, Carolyn Thore Long; sisters Sylvia Burrelson, Linda Nickles, and Carol Owens.

Mr. Long is survived by his children, Teresa Elkins (Steve) of Gibsonville, and John Long (Robin) of Greensboro; sister Margie Chrisom (Bruce) and Judy Taylor (Ron). He was adored by his grandchildren Tiffany and Grace. He also had two step grandchildren, Amber and Megan and four step great grandchildren.
