Mr. Charlie Ryan Gilbreath, 96, of Greensboro, passed away in the arms of his wife on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the High Point Hospice House. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Rehobeth Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gilbreath was born in Guilford County, NC to the late Charlie Macon and Epsie Ryan Gilbreath. He left school to begin work with Carter Fabrics and later he worked for AC Corp – always ensuring the needs of his family were met. Charlie was a lifelong member of Rehobeth Church where he served in many capacities. In his spare time, Mr. Gilbreath was an avid farmer and builder who enjoyed his farming equipment and building houses.

In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his infant son; granddaughters Melissa Marion and Brittney Gilbreath-Buchanan; his brothers Robert Gilbreath (Jean) and Kelly Gilbreath; his sisters Alsie Curtis (Tommy) and Hilda Bason (Maurice); as well as his brother-in-law Bill Neese.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 76 years, Mary "Van" Gilbreath; loving daughters Deborah Lilley (Partner Johnny Stewart) and Donna Marion (Husband Charles); his adoring grandchildren, Ryan Marion, Clay Lilley, and Zachary Lilley; his sister Betty Sue Neese and sister-in-law Shirley Gilbreath. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members will miss him dearly, as well.

The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center following the graveside committal.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be left to Rehobeth Church.
